Interested in a nanny or caregiver but not sure where to start? Here is some basic information:
The primary function of a nanny/caregiver is to provide ongoing care for children, the elderly, or disabled persons. A nanny/caregiver may be employed by a family on either a live-in or live-out basis and duties will vary depending on your family’s situation. Ideally, your caregiver will take on responsibilities such as providing assistance to the elderly who, as a result of physical disability, chronic illness, or cognitive impairment are unable to perform certain activities on their own.
Local Nannies and Caregivers
*Applicants can be interviewed personally
*Applicants have experience working within Canada
*Applicants are all in Canada which make it much easier, no need to wait the 6 month period for a overseas nanny/caregiver.
Note: Wages are based on a full-time schedule of 40-44 hours per week (depending on the province in which they will be employed)
Benefits of Hiring a Nanny or Caregiver
Obviously the biggest benefits of hiring a nanny/caregiver are the convenience and the personalized care your child will receive. Instead of being one out of approximately eight children in a daycare setting, your child will be the primary focus. This eliminates neglect resulting from a caregiver being pulled in too many directions, and gives your child a more secure feeling. There is also a decreased probability that your child will acquire communicable illnesses. Finally, having a caregiver work directly in your home allows for increased convenience and stability. Having a nanny requires the least amount of change in a child’s routine.
A nanny can also keep a more watchful eye on your child or elderly family member and may notice quicker if something is wrong with him/her. Having a consistent caregiver also eliminates that ever-present nervous feeling one gets when meeting yet another babysitter. There are no surprises when you know your nanny/caregiver and she knows you. Last but not least, your nanny/caregiver will be with your child consistently and generally exclusively. This means she will develop a more personal relationship with everyone in your family, ensuring a loving and respectful environment for all involved.
Additional benefits of a nanny/caregiver are:
*Significant alleviation of stress in your life
*Consistent and reliable assistance in the comfort of your own home
*Individual attention and cognitive stimulation for your child or elderly family member
*New cultural experiences
*A flexible schedule determined by you
*More quality time with your family
*Often a more economical alternative to daycare, especially for families with multiple children
